About

Hi, my name is Mike Childress and I am the creator of OutdoorBlogger.com.  I guess the best way to put it is that OutdoorBlogger seeks to pass along the love of the outdoors to others and hopefully we (both writer & reader) will learn something along the way.  You’ll notice pretty quickly that the content is as diverse as the outdoors itself.  Hiker or hunter, boating to bicycling, I believe there’s no need to delineate further.  I hate labels and positively cringe at the idea that if I hunt I’m thought of as one of “those” or if I’m environmentally sensitive, I’m one of “these”.  The outdoors has been my steadfast friend through thick and thin and I’ve come to realize how lucky I was to cut my teeth in such beautiful country as my home state of Washington.

Who Is Mike?

I am currently a system analyst for a local college living in Spokane, Washington.  I’ve spent roughly 10 years working in IT.  It all started by taking a class called Introduction To Computers at the age of 30.  I caught the bug and continued to pursue web programming and design for the next decade.  Before that I really had no use for computers and worked jobs that usually took me to the outdoors.  OutdoorBlogger is an attempt to mix my passions and pursue something I’ve dreamed of since a young boy, a writing/web career in the outdoors.
