WordPress Hosting

Welcome to Step 4 of how to become an outdoor blogger!

Now that I’ve acquired the domain name that I want, including it’s .net and .org relatives, it’s time to decide on a web hosting company that will host my blog. As I’ve said in the past, I use InMotionHosting.com of which I am also an affiliate. I’ve had a lot of hosts, but few have matched the service I receive from InMotion. With that said, if I didn’t have a host, the process is pretty straightforward.

I recently visited the WordPress website, the source, and looked at their recommendations. Currently WordPress endorses BlueHost, DreamHost, MediaTemple, GoDaddy, WestHost, HostICan, and Laughing Squid. I can speak to BlueHost and GoDaddy because at one time or another I used them as a web host. I can say that I had no complaints. All three were very professional and helpful.

Depending on the package you sign up for, be prepared to shell out between $6.95 to $19.95 a month for hosting. Most web host companies offer you a super-saver deal of some sort if you sign up and pay for a full year as opposed to month by month which makes sense if you plan on sticking to it.

Keep in mind that these are recommendations for folks who aren’t tech geeks. Gurus can run WordPress in a myriad of fashions and pride themselves on doing so. And that’s great. But for those of us who are “normal” users, full-featured web hosts that have GUI interfaces make managing our blog, as well as the WordPress platform itself, a breeze.

I can second your recommendation for Inmotion Hosting. I have a virtual private server with them. Speed of loading and quality of service are excellent.

Thanks for the comment and endorsement on InMotion Mike. They are simply the best I’ve come across, bar none.
